           PROFILES OF KINDNESS

Showcased below are just a few of the many special friends of the Humane Society of Highlands County... our volunteers and supporters. The Humane Society would have to close its doors if it weren't for these wonderful people.

Help Spay/Neuter Effort!

DrWaller-pre-op

Doctors Waller and Jernigan contributed their time during February to sterilize 20 formerly homeless dogs and cats so that they will not add to the overpopulation of pets.

On the morning of February 26th, which was “National Spay Day” volunteers arrived at the Humane Society before 7AM to transport 6 cats and 3 dogs to Citrus Animal Clinic.  Dr Waller and his staff started the operations at 8AM and worked throughout the morning on the animals.  By afternoon, all animals were out of post-op and returned to the Humane Society for their short recovery period.

We thank both of these Doctors for their compassion and generosity!!

Anallely and Sylvia Monroy are sisters and both members of the Lake Placid High School Student Government Association (SGA).  The SGA held a food drive for the Humane Society in December and netted an entire truckload of food and supplies.  The girls commented that the students were really great about bringing in donations.  (We hear that the teachers were offering some pretty nice incentives!)  Thanks to the SGA and all the students and faculty at the LP High.  Your food and supplies came just in time to get us through the holidays!
